Stazione FS Milano Centrale

Kimia products have been in use at the Milano Centrale and Porta Garibaldi railway stations since 2014. Over time, in fact, various interventions have been carried out to restore the degraded concrete. In this reference we focused in particular on the restoration of the reinforced concrete and the structural consolidation of the exchange cabins A, C, D and E of the Central Station, to which was added the restoration of two piezometric towers. Among the cabins, A and C, are raised and with a bridge structure. The images in the photo gallery refer in particular to Cabin C, on which the intervention was carried out in 2017. The recovery project of the cabins, built in the 1920s and abandoned for decades, represented a perfect example of modern restoration. Carried out under the supervision of the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Milan, it made it possible to restore the original morphology of the buildings, applying a conservative intervention methodology, carried out by real restorers. Our role in the intervention, in addition to targeted technical assistance from the early stages, was to provide customized products ad hoc in the Kimia laboratories, in order to faithfully reproduce the colors and characteristics of the construction materials of the time.
