For over 40 years, Kimia has been committed to innovating in the building restoration and recovery sector, offering advanced solutions for structural reinforcement and conservation of buildings, with an approach that is attentive to the history of places and the safety of people.
About us
Our story
Kimia was founded in Umbria in 1979 with the dream of combining the conservation of the building heritage with the need to find effective solutions to guarantee the safety of people and living spaces. In a territorial context characterized by a high seismic risk, we began to develop, since the early 1980s, innovative products to protect buildings and infrastructures and solutions based on the construction tradition to restore the historical heritage. The choice, in contrast to the trend for the time, turns out to be far-sighted: we anticipate by decades the current needs for sustainability and reduction of land consumption, acquiring a without equal knowledge in the field.
In 1984 it became the first Italian company to introduce composites for structural consolidation and among the very first in the world to develop waterproofing resins and highly compatible mortars for monumental restoration. In the structural field, the most significant work is the consolidation of the Sanctuary of Rivotorto, in Assisi. The work resisted the 1997 Umbria-Marche earthquake unscathed, thus becoming the first testimony in the world of the effectiveness of composite systems in protecting historic buildings from disastrous events. In the same years we also participated in the reconstruction of the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi. 20 years later, our contribution was fundamental for securing the entire historic center of Norcia, destroyed by the 2016 earthquake.
Today Kimia is a point of reference in the sector, demonstrated by its participation in interventions on world-famous assets. Works of immense value such as the Trevi Fountain and the Royal Palace of Caserta, icons such as the Meazza San Siro Stadium and national symbols such as the Al-Hadba Minaret in Iraq, bear our signature, confirming the absolute excellence of Kimia products.

Our mission is to preserve the building heritage, guarantee the structural safety of buildings and infrastructures, safeguard human lives in seismic events. To do this, we create the best restoration products and cutting-edge structural consolidation systems.

To be a point of reference in the conservation of real estate assets. To promote the recovery of buildings and seismic prevention through traditional and innovative products, respectful of the characteristics of construction materials and durable over time.

To protect the customer
The quality of the products manufactured and the assistance services offered represents the principle at the basis of our work, along the entire supply chain: from the selection of raw materials to the support of our technicians to the professionals on site. It's not a coincidence that we were among the first Italian companies in the sector to obtain ISO 9001 certification. We have also included an increasingly advanced traceability protocol in our quality system, to the benefit of the customer.
The commitment is to make the entire catalog of our products traceable, including in addition to structural mortars and technologies, structural reinforcement − as required by EU Regulation 305/2011 − powder and liquid products such as: waterproofing, dehumidifying, plasters finishing and many other solutions for the regeneration of the building heritage.
Research and development
Kimia believes in research as a promoter of innovation, that is why we constantly collaborate with universities and research centers to increase our knowledge and develop increasingly compatible and high-performance technical solutions. Over the years we have promoted and actively participated in scientific research with prestigious Italian and foreign universities.
Our commitment has led us to launch "Kimia for Innovation", an international program aimed at supporting, with a total contribution of 60 thousand euros, university scientific research in the field of materials for seismic and structural engineering.

Our construction sites, our history
Kimia participated in the post-Umbria-Marche earthquake reconstruction of '97 and in the safety of the historic center of Norcia after the 2016 earthquake. Our products contributed to the restoration of the most beautiful fountain in the world, to the restoration of one of the highest viaducts in Europe, the consolidation of the "Football Scale" and the ongoing reconstruction of the cultural symbol of an entire country, Iraq.
