Reinforcement of RC columns in bending and shear with FRP
Beams and pillars are a fundamental element of the frame structure. It is therefore important that they are adequately reinforced so that they can provide the right contribution of resistance even in the event of a seismic event. The reinforcement of reinforced concrete pillars is carried out by applying carbon fiber fabric in bands perpendicular to the axis of the element to increase the confinement and shear resistance and, if necessary, also in bands parallel to the axis to increase the bending resistance. The external corners and edges must be rounded with a minimum radius of 20 mm before applying the bands.
