Kimitech PLATE HM

High modulus carbon fiber pultruded sheet for FRP interventions

Kimitech PLATE HM is a high modulus carbon fiber sheet pre-impregnated with epoxy resin. The sheet, produced by pultrusion in different widths, is specific for carrying out structural consolidations of works in reinforced concrete, pre-stressed reinforced concrete, wood, masonry and steel.
It is particularly suitable for plating predominantly flexed elements and for binding masonry systems.

Applications

Kimitech PLATE HM is used for the structural reinforcement of reinforced concrete, wood and steel beams and joists, for the consolidation or reinforcement of vaults and masonry elements in general. It must be applied (after thorough cleaning with EPOX solvent, then light sanding) by spreading the Kimitech EP-TX epoxy resin both on the support (previously primed if necessary) and on the sheet.

Certifications

Kimitech PLATE HM plates are part of the Kimitech PLATE HM system with CVT no. 405.

Application

In the case of reinforced concrete structures, carry out the plating on surfaces that have a tensile strength greater than 1.5 Mpa. Apply the sheets on cured concrete, on perfectly dry, compact and dust-free surfaces.
The surfaces to be plating must be sandblasted in order to eliminate residues of oils, paints, release agents and cement laitance. For supports with irregularities greater than 1 mm, carry out fillings or levelling smoothing with suitable products. Cut the sheet to the desired length using a flexible tool with a diamond disc. Carry out a thorough cleaning with EPOX solvent, then lightly sand the surface where the sheet is to be applied in order to eliminate dust, oils and anything that could compromise the bonding and apply a uniform layer with a thickness of approximately 1 - 2 mm of Kimitech EP-TX epoxy resin with a flat spatula; with the same system apply a thin layer of the same resin on the substrate to be plating. Lay the sheet while still fresh and press it evenly onto the support with a rubber roller to eliminate any gaps or air bubbles.
Once hardened, products for protection against fire and/or atmospheric agents must be applied (for the choice of protection materials, consult our Technical Office).
