Intradosal or extradosal reinforcement of vaults with CRM

The use of CRM systems is very common for reinforcing masonry vaults and involves the use of a reinforcement frame made of preformed alkali-resistant glass fiber meshes, with thermosetting primer, embedded in a structural, lime-based mortar. The meshes are connected through preformed “L” composite connectors in glass fiber and thermosetting resin with improved adhesion and fixed to the masonry elements through chemical anchors (epoxy resin or high-performance, rapid-hardening vinyl ester resin). Alternatively, stainless steel helical bars can be used. The recommended number of connectors is 4 per m2. The thickness of CRM reinforcement systems is usually between 30 and 50 mm.

Features

  • High resistance and reduced thicknesses
  • Extremely flexible networks
  • Corrosion assistance and resistance to alkaline environments

Operational Phases

  1. Preparation of the substrate
  2. Application of a first layer of mortar
  3. Installation of the network
  4. Preparation of the connection systems
  5. Application of the second layer of mortar
  6. Smoothing
