Kimitech PLUG CRM
Preformed “L” connector in fiberglass
Kimitech PLUG CRM is a preformed “L” connector in glass fibre, to be used in combination with Kimitech WALLMESH CRM meshes for the reinforcement of masonry structures using the CRM reinforced plaster technique.
Applications
Suitable for making connections, reinforcing masonry, arches and vaults, securing and restoring structures.
Certifications
Kimitech PLUG CRM is CE marked in compliance with the provisions of EAD 340392-00-0104: “CRM (Composite Reinforced Mortar) Systems for strengthening concrete and masonry structures”, with ETA certificate 24/0114.
Application
Make sure the substrate is completely hardened, resistant and free of loose parts. In the presence of existing degraded plaster, strip the surface until obtaining a substrate with sufficient resistance. Clean and saturate the substrate by low-pressure washing. Remove any efflorescence and salts by washing or mechanical systems such as brushing, sandblasting or hydro-sandblasting.
On particularly irregular or poorly absorbent substrates, before applying the structural mortar, provide a rough coat.
The temperature of the substrate must be between +5°C and +30°C. After carefully preparing the substrate, before applying the first layer of lime-based structural mortar, wet with low-pressure water until completely saturated; any lack of saturation could cause the mortar to not adhere and crack. Apply by hand (with a stainless steel trowel or spatula) or with a plastering machine a first layer of structural mortar for a thickness of about 1.5 cm, leaving the surface sufficiently rough to allow the adhesion of the next layer. Position the alkaline-resistant glass fibre mesh from the Kimitech WALLMESH CRM range, resting it on the still fresh mortar. Proceed to create holes of suitable diameter, at least 4 per m2. Insert the Kimitech PLUG CRM connector and grout the hole with Kimitech EPOXY CTR epoxy resin. Finally apply a second layer of mortar to a thickness of approximately 1.5 cm.
