Strengthening of masonry columns and panels in bending and shear with diffuse FRCM
The structural reinforcement of brick, stone and tuff walls with FRCM systems consisting of basalt fibre mesh and natural hydraulic lime mortar, consists in the preparation of the substrate and the application of a first layer of roughcast to the wall facing with 5 mm thick natural hydraulic lime mortar, in which the basalt fibre reinforcement mesh is partially embedded. The subsequent covering with mortar must also have a thickness of 5 mm, thus respecting an overall reinforcement thickness of 1 cm. Depending on the type of substrate to be reinforced, the reinforcement system can be applied on one side only or on both sides, using transverse bow connections made with galvanized zinc steel fibre or stainless steel reinforcement fabric.
