Unstitch - Sew
The “unstitch and sew” technique consists in restoring the continuity of the wall by removing damaged or degraded elements and then creating a new wall texture with new elements, without compromising the load-bearing function of the masonry during the course of the intervention. The bricks must be installed with the right level of humidity and must be joined to the old masonry on both sides, leaving the space necessary for the insertion of special wooden wedges between the old and new masonry, to be removed at a later time, once the mortar has hardened, and inserting solid bricks in their place.
