Kimicover GUAINA
Resin loaded with dry-mix of cement-based binders and used to waterproof balconies and terraces
Kimicover GUAINA is a two-component waterproofing system, made of cementitious binders and alkali-resistant polymers (HSR Technology) The product has excellent resistance to chemical attacks by sulfates, deicing salts, acid rain, chlorides and it is waterproof. Easy to prepare and to apply, it produces a compact film with excellent adhesion to the substrate.
Applications
Kimicover GUAINA is used for the waterproofing of under-tiles and walkable exposed surfaces (in this case finished with Kimicover BLINDO). It is feasible to “refresh” the surfaces whenever you wish after sanding and re-apply a coloured and/or transparent finish.
Certifications
The product is CE marked as a protective coating in compliance with the 1504-2, intervention principles MC and IR.
Application
Substrates must be clean and mechanically consistent, holes or irregularities must be fixed using Kimia products. When waterproofing tiled surfaces, remove the first raw of tiles at a height of about 20 cm, and perform an acid wash with Soluzione P. In case of degradated concrete substrates check the depth of degradation and perform a proper cortical restoration cycle. Primerize by applying a coat of Kimicover FIX MV on screeds, 8-24 hours before performing the treatment. The primer is part of the waterproofing system: - improves the adhesion of Kimicover GUAINA in case of tiled substrates, standardizing the absorption between tiles and joints - preconsolidate and improve the adhesion of existing screeds - avoid the rise of alkaline substances in newly constructed screeds, which are not very seasoned, avoiding deterioration of the waterproofing, due to "saponification". The points of contact between screeds and catch basins, tiles removed, have to be cleaned and the outer edges of the couplings reassembled. Now waterproof using Kimicover JOINT/P, Kimicover GUAINA armed with Kimitech 120. The connections between walls and floors will be waterproofed using Kimicover JOINT, Kimicover GUAINA armed with Kimitech 120. Joints will be waterproofed by means of Ethafoam, sealed Tecnoseal 130 or Tecnoseal 88 (cured at least 24 hours) before laying the elastic strip Kimicover JOINT. Distance between joints have to be evaluated depending on the kind of substrate and the stress foreseen. Homogenize component A by mixing with a professional mixer at low number of revolutions equipped with helical impeller. Pour half of the liquid in a suitable clean container. Slowly add all the powder (component B), making sure to mix it slowly and carefully with a mechanical mixer for few minutes until obtaining a homogeneous mixture and absolutely free of lumps. Add the other half of the liquid and mix until homogenize the product. Pour Kimicover GUAINA onto the laying surface and distribute, with a steel trowel or plaster. Place immediately net Kimitech TNT, making sure it adheres to the membrane always using the trowel or plaster. Pour additional Kimicover GUAINA over the armor to finish the waterproofing. After 24 hours, apply by roller an additional coat of Kimicover GUAINA finishing. Do not overcome 2 mm per coat and a total thickness of 4 mm. After 7 days bond the ceramic tiles using our powder adhesive Aderflex KR or paint using Kimicover BLINDO (high-reflectance version available). Expansion joints will be sealed with Tecnoseal 88 or Tecnoseal 130.
